The Western Institute for Food Safety and Security (WIFSS)
is a University of California, Davis program partnering with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA); the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), formerly California Department of Health Services (CDHS); the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA); and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
WIFSS welcomes collaboration from individuals, institutions and industries
that share the goal of enhancing food safety and security. This can be
achieved through submitting research proposals; collaborating on research;
becoming a visiting scientist; participating in our scientific conferences
and outreach activities. We encourage your participation so that together
we can devise better management practices to reduce the number and virulence
of pathogens in our food system, assure a safe and secure food supply,
grow our agricultural economy and protect the public health.
