Mission Statement
The mission of the Western Institute for Food Safety and Security (WIFSS) is to conduct research that will enhance food safety and defense in all sectors of the food systems' continuum from environment to consumer; to provide outreach programs that extend the Institute’s research and information management programs to the public; and, to build an information management system that positions the Institute to be a leading resource for scientific information facilitating innovations and new practices that enhance food safety and defense, enhance economic stability of the food industry and, overall, lead to improved human health and welfare.
A core value of the Institute is to build partnerships to accomplish its missions and goals.
