You’ll dive into the world of disease outbreaks, farm biosecurity, and One Health, learning how to protect animals and people while keeping farms running safely. From suiting up in PPE to solving real-world case studies, you’ll get hands-on skills that prepare you for careers in veterinary medicine, agriculture, or public health.
Program Details:
Undergraduate students are invited to participate in an on-farm biosecurity training program designed to strengthen skills in preventing and responding to animal disease outbreaks. Through engaging online modules offered between December 1, 2025 and April 30, 2026 students will learn to apply One Health principles and industry-aligned biosecurity practices to protect animal agriculture and public health. Interactive lessons and real-world case studies will cover hazard identification, risk assessment, outbreak response, and contamination prevention, including the proper use of personal protective equipment. Participants who complete all training by April 30 will earn a $200 stipend. This flexible, self-paced program offers practical skills and career insights for students interested in animal science, veterinary medicine, public health, food safety, or agricultural.
Student Requirements:
- Registered part-time or full-time undergraduate student at a community college or university.
- All majors are welcome and encouraged to apply, but depending on the number of applicants, preference may be given to students majoring in agriculture, animal science, pre veterinary medicine, plant science, public health, food safety, ag education, or other ag or public health related majors.
