Gregory Wlasiuk – May 26, 2020

On May 14 WIFSS held an online training course on the foundations of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), co-management, FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements, and details on how to develop an effective on-farm food safety plan. The Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training Course was led by instructors Dr. Michele Jay-RussellDonna Pahl-Clements, and David Goldenberg. The students came from various parts of California, as well as other states, representing a wide variety of small and large growers ranging from Avocados to Walnuts. This entirely online training course was moderated by the WIFSS educational design team.

The one-day course featured topics such as postharvest handling and sanitation, soil amendments, and worker health, hygiene, and training. It is intended to help growers of all backgrounds meet FSMA Produce Safety Rule Requirements. Though the upcoming scheduled training on May 28 is current at capacity, additional courses are planned for June.
